How do you choose your allegiances? I'm a newer soccer/football fan (watched WC since 1994, but entering 3rd year as club follower) trying to learn anything I can about different clubs. For example, in England, who represents the blue collar folks, and what about upper class? How were teams formed, and by whom? What are the mascots for different clubs? Is there any significant reason why I should support one club over the other? I live in the US, thus have no geographic claim to any European clubs. I don't just want to hop on the bandwagon of the top teams like Man U, Chelsea, Lyon, Madrid, AC & Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, etc. - but I want to establish who will get my support. I want to have a club to cheer for in each league of England, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Portugal, and Holland. I want to base my dicision on more than just jerseys and success. What would be the culture shock from New Jersey to Texas? I've lived in New Jersey for most of my life, with the exception of being born in England and living there for 5 years, as well as Cameroon for 1 year. My family moved to America when I was 6, and now I'm 14. I mean, I'm pretty worldly cause of that, and I've visited Japan for 2 weeks as well. My family isn't rich, I guess its more like lucky/fortunate that I got so much experience with that in my life. But I've never been to the south.. I'll be a sophomore next year, and my family is moving somewhere in Dallas. Um, I do volleyball, soccer, and track, as well as other clubs. I take Spanish in school, and I hear there's more spanish people there so I kinda know that part of Texas. Also, how are people there like in general? Is Texas, or Dallas in general like the stereotypes? does it ever snow? does its beaches get surfable waves from the Gulf of Mexico? Are hurricanes/tornadoes bad there? I have noo idea. I'm playing soccer right now. i'm starter central midfielder and i don't know which number i want to be. im a soccer natural. number 7 and 10 are taken by 2 of our best players. i was thinking of henry's 14 b/c is such a great finisher. he plays wit elegance. 23 cuz of beckham. he came from rock bottom (start of the season) to becoming the key to real madrid's success and of england's.22 for kaka (dont need to mention why. he is soccer god) i also like uncommon numbers. im thinking of 99(for no reason). 77 (cuz i was born on the 7th of septemeber). 90(i was born in 1990). and thats all i have in my head right now. im leaning towards the 23 cuz its MJ's and beckhams number.

Why is the hoodie viewed negatively in the UK? I live in America and pretty much everyone wears hoodies during the fall and winter; especially athletes (male or female) and most guys. There is nothing bad associated with wearing hoodies. It's the modern day equivalent of a sweater. Anyway, I recently visited England and wanted to go in a pub. The manager had the nerve to kick me out of the pub because I was wearing a hoodie and a baseball cap. I didn't understand. Everyone, I mean everyone, wears baseball caps in America. Duh, it is the most popular sport here. Why shouldn't I wear the cap of my favorite team? It's the same as a Brit wearing a soccer jersey. Well, I asked him why he was kicking me out, and he told me they didn't serve criminals. I was confused, but I didn't protest. I just left. But I was pretty pissed (Oops, I forgot pissed means drunk in England) I mean to say I was pretty angry. Anyways, why do the British associated hoodies and baseball caps with criminals?
